How to Color Monster Pages in 4 Unique Ways
All these colorful ideas can be easily done with few simple supplies, and they allow you to decide which style you would love best—a cute monster, furry creature, or a scary Halloween character!
1. Give a Fluffy Monster Patchwork Fur
Draw a fluffy creature with little horns. Use short crayon strokes of several different colors to create a scruffy look on the animal’s fur (remembering to leave areas clear around the eyes and mouth). Give your creature some purple cheeks, orange eyebrows, and a nice blue belly!
2. Make a Lantern Glow
On your mummy or werewolf coloring sheet, fill the lantern in with pale yellow, then go for the oranges all around the edges of the lantern and some yellows on the hands near it.
Put the strongest colors nearest to the light, so they shine right out!
Now shade in the background with either a dark blue or purple—just start by shading in lightly because we want those nighttime colors to pop but don’t cover over the small bits!
3. Add Spots to a Swamp Creature
Start by painting a frog-like monster or a reed-covered swamp scene on a white background using a light green color.
Use some cotton swabs and dip them into some washable paint for the darker spots of your frog’s skin. While allowing these spots to dry, you can also draw any near details using colored pencils. You could even fill some surrounding space with some brown mud or some blue-colored water to represent this sogginess!
4. Try a Space-Inspired Color Palette
Grab your pink, turquoise, and violet pencils. Pick either the floating astronaut or the creature juggling moons as your subject and start coloring their body!
If you’re using the monster page with eyes, try leaving some of the stars white for contrast on the dark sky background.
Have fun giving these monster coloring pages whatever crazy colors and little details you’d like!
