If you have crayons, they’ll be fine for getting those big shapes filled in solid colors. But if you want more detail around things like the tiny nooks along the skeleton’s fingers, or the little details of pocket watches and hourglasses, get out some colored pencils! You could also use markers, but we’d skip that unless you really wanted to make it look super colorful.
For younger kids who might find the idea of a spooky reaper scary or too intense, we recommend trying some designs with a rounder hood shape, or maybe a funny one where he’s tripping over his extra-long cloak? Have fun!
Why You Should Try Other Colors for Grim Reaper Coloring Pages
You’ll probably think the black cloak looks pretty cool. But what if you have coloring sheets of the Grim Reaper? Or maybe you’re looking to give your Grim Reaper coloring a different look. Either way, here are some other fun things we came up with when thinking about how else to color those Grim Reaper coloring sheets.
And once you’ve colored them, use our ideas to make the most awesome Halloween decorations!
1. Give the Cloak a Purple Glow
You can use the cute little hooded reaper you find online as your template! To color in the cloak color everything lavender except inside of all the folds where there’s more depth to the color add some deep purple colors. The look ends up being great!
You can see the pale yellow skull looks nice against that color too! Once you are done coloring, glue your finished art on orange construction paper and hang it beside your doorway! It turns out such a sweet little homemade Halloween picture!
2. Add Warm Lantern Light
Make sure you have colored the Grim Reaper’s lantern and scythe with appropriate shades (the flame needs to be yellow/orange). Then give it some light by putting the peach near the flame. Keep his robe as blue/gray and add some patches of paper white here and there. When you are done, trim the image according to your notebook cover size, and stick it with the help of clear contact papers.
3. Make a Cheerful Green Reaper
For example, give the waving skeleton a lime green hood with teal shadows. You can color their bones cream and put some pinks around their cheeks. Once you are done coloring this sheet, you could mount it onto folded cardstocks to create a cool Halloween greeting card!
Have fun while giving these cool Grim Reaper coloring pages colors!
