There really isn’t a “right” or “wrong” way to go about coloring your acoustic guitar page here. We think keeping it simple is best… Or perhaps this will be an excuse to play with something new! We have included some suggestions below that may help give you that extra bit of polish:
Pick the Right Coloring Tools
When choosing your tool-of-choice, remember:
And crayons work well with little ones, of course – as does the color blending capabilities. Colored pencils provide more fine-control / drawing detail capabilities.
Print on thick enough paper if your child loves markers to prevent color bleeding-through.
Try Creative Color Choices
If you observe closely in this image, we’re sure you will discover more incredible choices. For instance, most of us use wooden bodies when building acoustics. Does that mean all those instruments must be brown-colored? Well, no. You could paint them light orange or red or even blue. Just ensure that you have a goal set before you start painting – are you going for realism or playfulness?
While researching different methods on how to paint my electric guitar, we found many other ideas too:
Try making stripes or try creating some patterns. Also, you could opt for rainbow colors as well. Make sure to take note of the strings and the small elements. Go for silver or grey color for the tuning pegs. Painting over the soundhole using some dark shades can produce a nice shadowing effect.
We think one doesn’t require doing anything overly complicated here. Sometimes, just giving a bit of extra care enhances the overall looks of the instrument significantly. Still, if you want to do things simply then you’re free to leave out these intricate designs and focus solely on simplicity.
Use the Background
Don’t forget about the importance of the background! You can take that to the bank!
Paint a background behind the stage/sky/music notes, etc. Or if there’s nothing on the current page then go ahead and grab your pencil and create some magic right here!

Keep It Simple or Go Bold
This is just one of many ways others create their color pages (but again – we all have our own style!).
As long as YOU feel comfortable and confident about your process, go forth and make!
In case anyone was wondering why we even bother to plan these colors out first…? We’re guilty of doing the same thing! If we randomly grab a color and think “cool” then we’ll get creative from there! It works for us, right?
But if we could give advice to someone else wanting to try making their own color pages…maybe starting small makes sense? Like 2-3 colors and adding some more when we need them later down the line.
Layer and Mix Colors
Another cool thing about doing that is it will really help you get depth within all of the things that you create because what we’ve done here is played around with different shades or colors – this comes in handy big time if you’re playing around with wood patterns or trying to make some kind of shadow for an acoustic guitar.
Start out with some sort of light color and then just play around with going back over some particular parts of those things you were making and adding another layer onto them, only this one’s gonna have a slightly darker color. If you wanna play around with mixing up all sorts of colors for greater creative liberty why not?
Like:
Red + Yellow = Orange
Blue + Red = Purple
Add Your Own Touch
We love this idea, we would LOVE to do this with glitter or stickers (and also draw music notes in the air).
Also great if you turn it into a card/poster. And cut it out and put it on your wall/art/bookmark/etc for your crafts.
Make It a Learning Moment
This is a great time to teach your little one about different parts of the guitar. They might be too busy doing their thing to pay attention but we love asking questions like “what does this part do?” or “how does the bridge work?!” while we are doing our own stuff.
